Description:                                                                                                                                                                  Beautiful renovated and absolutely unique one bedroom apartment in a 19th century town house located in the historical centre of Tavira, opposite the old market. The apartment in the completely renovated townhouse is located on the first (top) floor on the riverside. The apartment is tastefully decorated and has a very nice ambiance and lots of light coming through the large windows. It has been renovated with great care by the current owners, restoring as much of the old wood work, stone work, floors and walls as possible. The apartment is developed as an open plan duplex with an impressive and attractive view of the ceiling which is made of cane and wooden beams. This is a typical Tavira roof called 'Telhado de Tesouro'. A comfortable pine wood staircase lead to the bedroom. The apartment is overlooking the original patio of the townhouse. The building keeps you cool in summer and warm in winter due to the thickness of the old walls and the use of ecological materials during the renovation. The apartment has electrical heating for winter time.

The entrance with wrought-iron door and very old natural stone staircase lead to the Patio on the first floor. The apartment consists of a good size living room with open plan kitchen, dining table and chairs, a French balcony and lots of light from the large windows. The living room has a sofa bed (for 2 people) and an open plan kitchen with dining table. The large double bed room on the second floor / mezzanine of this duplex has a 'half moon' window with a view of the traditional roofs and blue sky. Beautiful (good size) modern bathroom with bath and rose colored tadelakt lime walls from Marrakech. Guest may use the patio and roof terrace with sun loungers, dining table and chairs. If required, a cot and highchair can be provided at no extra charge. A car is not required and all amenities are within walking distance. There are various launderettes near by. The ferry to the beach of Tavira Island is only a 250 hundred meters away. There are various bars and restaurants on Tavira Island. Most restaurants are specialized in fish, freshly caught the same day. 

In and around the old town centre of Tavira you'll find everything. A train and bus station are only a few minutes walk away.  It is very easy to lose track of time in Tavira, a lovely old town with a long history. You can spend hours strolling the charming cobblestone streets with it's  many restaurants, shops, bars and terraces to enjoy a refreshment in the sun. Ilha de Tavira, it's famous beach with many small restaurants is only a boat ride away. There are several long sandy beaches and four golf courses within a few minutes drive. This is a very nice destination all year round. Really, you simply don't have time to get bored in Tavira, the cultural centre of the Algarve.
