Description:                                                                                                                                                                  This ground floor apartment in 'Casa do Largo' - is a splendid blend of old and new. The old manor house has been fully restored, with taste and attention to detail, to create three apartments. With an ever changing view over the river Gilão where brightly painted fishing boats jostle against the summer ferry boats and fisherman untangle their nets and stack lobster pots. Sail along the river and across the Ria Formosa to the famous Island of Tavira with its wide open beaches and clear sparkling ocean. There are lots of restaurants to choose from all selling fresh fish caught locally. This apartment is also ideal for winter breaks too as there is a wood burning stove and still plenty to do in the mostly warm and sunny winter months. At the rear of the property is a private south-facing courtyard garden with swimming pool (approx. 7x3m), sun-loungers and a shaded dining area; ideal for that all important 'alfresco dining'.

During the summer months, the ferryboat to the beach at Ilha de Tavira leaves from the quayside in Tavira town, around 100m from the apartment. At other times of the year, the boat leaves from Quatro Aguas which is around 1km further along the river. There are several other blue flag beaches and golf courses within a few minutes drive.

The apartment is extremely conveniently located for both the beach and the town. The riverfront restaurants are close at hand and the Old Market and Roman Bridge are only a couple of minutes walk away. You can spend hours strolling the charming cobblestone streets of this lovely old town with its many restaurants, shops, bars and terraces to enjoy a refreshment in the sun.

This beautiful manor house dates from the early 19th century and has been tastefully renovated to high specifications, using natural materials and retaining historical features - such as the traditional Tavira roofs (called Quatro Aguas) and window s with interior wooden shutters, as well as thick walls which keep the property warm in winter and cool in summer.

The apartment is a comfortable retreat from the activity on the quayside and is furnished to a high standard with a combination of antique and contemporary furniture. It is an excellent base for either a summer break or a winter stay in Tavira.

The spacious accommodation consists of a large living room with separate dining area and fireplace with wood-burning stove, a fully equipped kitchen (electric hob & oven, microwave oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, toaster, kettle) with granite work surfaces. The master bedroom has a large four-poster bed and en-suite bathroom, the second bedroom has twin beds. Both have plenty of wardrobe space. From both the kitchen and the living area, double doors open onto the pool area and private garden with sun-loungers. Satellite TV, Air conditioning for heating and cooling. Even though this apartment is on the ground floor it enjoys lots of light and has a very nice ambiance.

Rental car is not essential as all amenities are within walking distance. Children and pets are welcome. Parents of small children should note that the pool is not fenced and children should be supervised at all times in the garden.
