It is very easy to lose track of time in Tavira, a lovely old town with a long history where time stood still. You can spend hours strolling the charming cobblestone streets with it's many restaurants, shops, bars and terraces to enjoy a refreshment in the sun. The old palace is nearby and the beach of Ilha de Tavira is within walking distance and has many small restaurants. A visit to the recently renovated Pousada (Inn) is recommended. This is a very nice destination all year round. During the summer months there is a boat ferry from the center of town, opposite the Happy Homes office, going to Ilha de Tavira and Quatro Aguas. Santa Catarina is a charming little Portuguese village where time stood still. Here you find all amenities such as a bank/ATM, post office, pharmacy, cafe's, small supermarkets and bakery. They also organize once a month a gypsy market that is well worth a visit. There are several superb golf courses and many blue flag beaches with excellent water sport facilities to choose from within a 15/20 minute drive. The nearest restaurant and bar is at the bottom of the hill, some 300 meters from the property. Here you'll find typical Portuguese fare at a very reasonable price. A bit further down the road towards Tavira there is another fine restaurant in Quinta de Fonte do Bispo. Here the owners also organize many events to be enjoyed by both residents and visitors from the area. Large supermarkets you'll find in Sao Bras, Loule and Tavira. The nearest supermarket (Loja Fresca) is in Santa Catarina. This charming Portuguese style villa is nicely designed with all living quarters on the ground floor. It is well presented and equipped, a true 'Home away from Home'. There are various seating areas in the terraced and mature landscaped gardens surrounding the villa. The pool is a real treat for refreshment on a hot summer day. This property has a very nice Mediterranean ambiance with the use of natural materials such as wooden covered terraces, beautiful decorative natural stone walls & stairs and cobble stone drive way. Access to the property through the entrance gate via a cobblestone driveway to the parking area adjacent to the house.
